About Me
If you ask what I am, I would say I am a goof who happens to teach. I currently teach high school Art and Drama, although I'm supposed to be teaching English and Music...welcome to the education system. I also teach voice at the local conservatory of music. My first degree was a Bachelor of Music in classical voice (a BEd was my second), and classical voice (especially Baroque and Early Music) remains an enormous passion of mine.
If, however, you ask who I am, I would say I'm a writer. I have always had a love for stories. I've always been one to zone out and lose myself in random, spontaneous story creation, whether as a teenager walking home from school, or as an adult walking my dog through a field.
In addition to classical music, I find inspiration for my stories and characters while soaking in the tub or doing the dishes. Water seems to give life to my imagination, and in turn my characters. I did, after all, grow up by the seaside, and two generations of my family lived off the waters of the Pacific as fishermen.
I did not set my sights on putting my stories to paper until more recently, after living and travelling through Egypt, Germany, France, and England (from which I gleaned copious ideas!).
I am looking forward to finishing my first novel this year during the 2009-2010 year. Or perhaps, this month!
This blog follows my manic process in trying to achieve this goal, and by taking this hobby of mine to the next step by writing consistenly every single day of the week. Stay tuned for lots of emotional turmoil and psychological dithering, all worth it in the end if it means I reach my ultimate goal: happiness!
